Healthcare Directives: Preventing Serious Legal Proceedings
Living Wills vs. Durable Powers of HealthcareYou should know that Living Wills generally address only the medical treatment which you will receive at the end of your life, and usually at the end of what has been diagnosed as a terminal condition. Durable Powers of Healthcare are much more general in application and enable you to specify the circumstances that certain healthcare decisions can be made in a larger number of circumstances, particularly where a person becomes, either through accident or disease, mentally incapacitated, although not necessarily with a terminal or even life-threatening condition. See Discussion of Durable Powers of Healthcare.
